Huawei is sending January 2022 security update to Nova 5, 5 Pro, 5i, and 5i Pro

Huawei has started to send a new software update to Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro, Nova 5i, and Nova 5i Pro, which is based on HarmonyOS 2. The latest update incorporates the January 2022 security patch to make the device more secure by fixing dozens of vulnerabilities.

The software update comes with the HarmonyOS 2 version 2.0.0.212 for the Huawei Nova 5, while the Nova 5 Pro users are receiving it as HarmonyOS 2.0.0.212/213. According to the changelog shared by Huawei in a forum post, the update does not bring anything new other than the January 2022 security patch.

Huawei Nova 5i and Nova 5i Pro, on the other hand, are receiving the new software update with HarmonyOS version 2.0.0.211, an upgrade from 2.0.0.210. Likewise the Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro, the Nova 5i and Nova 5i Pro are also receiving the January 2022 security patch.

The January 2022 security patch for Huawei devices fixes more than one hundred CVE’s. It includes 4 CVE in the framework, 10 CVEs in the system, 5 CVEs in the application, and 111 CVEs resolved in the third-party libraries.

How to install the latest update on Huawei Nova 5, 5 Pro, 5i, 5i Pro

Via Settings app:

  • Open Settings app
  • Go to System & updates -> Software update
  • Tap on Check for Updates
  • Hit the Download and Install button
  • Reboot the phone

Via My Huawei app:

  • Open My Huawei app
  • Tap on Update
  • Now, tap on the Download and Install button
  • Reboot the phone
