Google has finally launched the Nearby Share Beta for PC. It was announced last year at CES 2022.

The app will allow users to transfer files between PC and android devices seamlessly and thus making sending yourself emails just to access your files on a different device a thing of past.

The Nearby Share app can be download from android.com. It is available to download for devices using windows 10 and newer versions (64 – bit version). Users with ARM devices are out of luck for now as the app does not support ARM devices.

After installing the app, all you need to do is sign in to your Google account to customize your preferences. However, the app can also be used without signing in.

To transfer the files, there’s no need to keep the app open in the desktop. Transfers will happen as long as the app is running in the background. Furthermore, if both the devices are logged in to same Google account then file transfer are accepted automatically even if the screen is off.

According to Google, all transfers are end to end encrypted. Barring some European nations, Nearby share beta is supported in most countries and can be downloaded from Android.com.
