Redmi Note 8 was launched back in 2019 with Android 9 Pie out of the box. Now, the device was expected to receive Android 11 based MIUI 12.5 skin. The Redmi Note 8 is receiving the Android 11 update but the MIUI skin has not been updated, still MIUI 12.
The Android 11 update is currently rolling out in China with firmware version V12.0.1.0.RCOCNXM. The update is currently hitting a limited number of Redmi Note 8 users. Soon, it will make a broader rollout in the country.
There is no announcement for the rollout of Android 11 for the global variant. However, based on the past rollout plans, we expect the update to hit global variants of Redmi Note 8 in the next month.
To update your device with the latest build, head to Settings -> About phone -> System update. For those who can’t wait to try the update, we’ve added a download link for the latest package. The package weighs 2.7GB in size and requires manual installation, which we don’t recommend.
