Xperia XA1/XA1 Ultra has started receiving November 2017 OTA Security Patch (40.0.A.6.162 and 42.0.A.4.133): Sony has been launching various new smartphones every year in the Sony Xperia series and the same lineup of smartphones have been launched with their 2017 models this year as the company launched many new smartphones in the different lineups this year. Now, there were smartphones like the Sony Xperia XZ and the Sony Xperia XZ1 along with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the XZ1 Premium. However, the company also releases a Sony Xperia smartphone in the Xperia XA series and the latest smartphone in 2017 from Sony was named as the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra.
Now, we have known there are two variants of the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra which are getting the latest update. Talking about the version number of the firmware, the Xperia XA1 is getting the update as 40.0.A.6.162 whereas the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is getting the update with version number 42.0.A.4.133 as its latest firmware.
Now, to give you a heads-up about the latest update on both the Xperia XA devices, the update is still based on Android 7.0 Nougat which was the version of Android released by Google last year. However, we are accustomed to seeing the Sony devices get the latest version of Android the fastest among all the OEMs.
Now, this update on Sony Xperia XA1/Ultra is not coming with a major change like the upgrade to latest Android 8.0 Oreo but the update still comes with an important inclusion which is the November security patch update that was released by Google at the start of the month of November and it includes many security improvements from the last security patch which was titled as October security patch.
