WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by META, is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 22.214.171.124. According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates and beta releases, the new update includes a feature called “kept messages,” which allows users to keep disappearing messages in the chat. This feature is still under development and is not yet available to beta users, but it is expected to be released in a future update.
In addition to the kept messages feature, WhatsApp is also working on informing users about the expiration of disappearing messages. When a disappearing message expires, it will automatically be deleted from the chat. However, users will now be able to keep the message in the chat if they choose to do so. This can be done by viewing the message options and selecting the “keep” option.
It’s worth noting that when a kept message is undone, it will be automatically deleted for everyone in the chat and cannot be recovered. This is a useful feature for users who want to keep certain messages in the chat for reference or for future use, but still want to take advantage of the expiration feature for other messages.
