Feature list for January Feature Drop update for Pixel users

January Feature Drop

Here are some of the features that the January Feature Drop update will bring –

Circle to Search

Google and Samsung announced this AI feature to the Galaxy S24 last week. This feature will become available for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro from January 31st, the same day the Samsung Galaxy S24 becomes available.

This feature will allow you to search for anything visible on the device’s screen by drawing a circle around it. This will work on highlight and scribble too. A long press of the home screen button or gesture bar triggers the circle to search and the users can draw circle.

Temperature sensor for body temperature

With the January Feature Drop update, Google will allow Pixel 8 temporary sensor to measure body temperature. Earlier, it used to be possible to measure the temperature of certain objects and wasn’t useful in real-life use.

Magic compose

For Google Pixel 6a and newer handsets, this feature will allow you to rewrite the drafted message in different styles that you can choose from. As for the Pixel 8 series, the processing tends to happen on-device while other Pixel devices use the cloud.

Photomoji

Google has brought along Photomoji to Google Messages. This will allow you to react with stickers extracted from Photos. All you’ll have to do is touch and hold the message before selecting Create -> Photo -> Select object and send.

Nearby Share to Quick Share

Samsung and Google have partnered up to make the sharing between Android and ChromeOS devices significantly easier. Nearby Share is known as Quick Share but the functionality is the same. The name Quick Share has been taken from Samsung’s Sharing Tool.
