Steps to fix Data Mismatch Error in Baldurs Gate 3
Method 1: Check for data mismatch error
- Go to the Cache folder in the Larian Studios Launcher directory
- Enter this line in the Explorer –
%LocalAppData%Larian StudiosLauncherCache
- Look for the text file named “steam_4.1.1.2154614_alteredFiles.txt”
- If the file exists, you should investigate its content and see which files aren’t expected in the installation and mods folder
Method 2: Clear level cache corrupted files
- Browse to the Level Cache folder by using this line in Explorer –
%LocalAppData%Larian StudiosBaldurs Gate 3LevelCache
- Now, you’ll need to delete the content present in the folder
Method 3: Check event viewer from error codes
- Press “Start” or Windows + R keys and then type “Event Viewer” in the search box
- In Windows 11, you need to select “View Event Logs” after the search
- Expand Windows Logs in the left column before selecting “Application”
- Look for recent errors related to the game
- Check the info under the “General” tab for clues beginning with “Faulting application name…”
Method 4: Disable Steam Cloud Support
- In the Steam client, you must click on the Steam menu
- Select “Settings” before choosing the “Cloud” option
- Disable Steam Cloud Support globally or specifically for Baldurs Gate 3 in the Properties
