The new software update for Galaxy J3 (2017) has already started rolling out in Ireland. It can be identified by firmware version J330FNXXS4CUF1 which does not bring more than just a new security patch.

The June 2021 security patch for Samsung phones fixes 2 Critical, 27 High levels, and 5 Moderate levels Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) to better protect the device from security and privacy vulnerabilities.

As mentioned above, the new update for Galaxy J3 (2017) is currently rolling out in Europe and should not take too long to start hitting other regions. To manually check for the latest update, navigate to Settings >> Software updates and then tap on Download and Install.

Samsung released Galaxy J3 (2017) in July 2017 with Android 7 (Nougat) out of the box. In 2018, it received Android 8 update and bagged Android 9 Pie update last year. So, in total, the Galaxy J3 (2017) has received two major OS upgrades and is not eligible to receive any further major OS upgrades, Android 10 or above. Also, the smartphone has been placed under the company’s biannual software update schedule and may stop receiving security patch updates anytime soon.
