Did you know when you’re playing YouTube videos on your smartphone, it’ll be possible to select another video by just tapping on the screen? But what if you’ve given the reigns of your smartphone to your kid and they want to watch YouTube videos but you don’t want them to browse other content or accidentally subscribe to other channels? This can be easily done by locking your Android device.
If you’re looking to do that, then this guide will be helpful to you. In this guide, you will get to know how to lock the YouTube screen when playing videos.
How to lock the YouTube screen when playing videos (Android)?
While you cannot natively lock the YouTube screen when watching videos, you can indeed block YouTube and other apps with the help of your device’s integrated features. If you have an Android device, you can enable the screen pinning option by going to the main settings tab. Here are the steps to do that –
Step 1: Head over to Settings, Security, and Advanced feature
On your device’s home screen, you need to look for Settings and then tap on it. After that, scroll down until you’ve found the Security option and select “Advanced”. Once you’ve opened the drop-down menu, you’ll be able to continue with the next steps.
Step 2: Select app pinning and then turn it on
Select the “App Pinning on the Screen” option and toggle it on. This will allow you to enable the lock screen on the video.
Step 3: Open the app in Overview
Next, launch YouTube and open the video that you want to watch. Open the Overview screen on your device while you’re using the YouTube app. You will get a padlock on the upper right corner of the screen. For proceeding, you will need to tap on it.
Step 4: Pin the video that you want to watch
Once you have enabled the lock screen via the Overview window, watching videos with the lock screen will get enabled.
For unpinning the video, you should just tap the Home button and then press the padlock icon at the top left corner.
