Smartphone maker Oppo has started rolling out a major software update for two of its popular Android phones – the Reno 10 Pro+ 5G and Reno 8 Pro models. This over-the-air update upgrades these phones to the newest Android version – Android 14.
The update also upgrades Oppo’s customized user interface called ColorOS to the latest ColorOS 14 version. This version is based on Android 14 code.
What’s New in the Update
Oppo has released ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 for the Reno 10 Pro+ 5G and Reno 8 Pro 5G models, as per an announcement on their official community forum. This marks the first major OS update for the Reno 10 Pro+ 5G, while the Reno 8 Pro 5G is receiving its second major update.
This update brings many helpful features and improvements like:
- Faster performance with Trinity optimization engine
- New Aquamorphic designs, audio effects, colors and themes
- Improved notifications using Android’s Live Activities
- New AI tools like Smart Touch, File Dock
- Better privacy and security
The update also likely updates the Android security patch level on these devices.
Getting the Update
To manually check for the update, Reno 10 Pro+ and Reno 8 Pro owners can go to: Settings > About Device > System Updates
Before installing, Oppo strongly advises users to:
- Backup data
- Ensure phone battery above 50%
- Connect to WiFi
- Have adequate storage space
- Install pending Android 13 updates
Then tap ‘Download and Install’ to get the Android 14 update. The phone will restart a few times during the installation process.
