Samsung Galaxy A70s bags One UI 2.5 update with October 2020 Patch

As the title suggests, the Samsung Galaxy A70s has recently received the much-awaited One UI 2.5 firmware OTA update with the latest October 2020 Security Patch. It’s worth mentioning that the update literally brings a ton of features or improvements like improved Wi-Fi connectivity, Bitmoji stickers support on Always-on display, Split Keyboard support for Landscape mode, default camera app improvements, other system enhancements, etc.

The new firmware update is rolling out in batches via OTA to all the Galaxy A70s models that bring the build number A707FDDU3BTH4 based on Android 10. It weighs around 1.6GB in size and users can easily grab the update by using the Wi-Fi or mobile data network. However, there is no support for the Wireless DeX and enhanced Pro Video Mode feature on the Samsung Galaxy A70s model as of now. You can check out the full update changelog below.

Wi-Fi

  • If quality information on nearby Wi-Fi routers can be measured, this information will appear as Very Fast, Fast, Normal, or Slow.
    * This feature can be turned on or off in “Network Quality Information Display” settings.
  • When attempting to access a Wi-Fi router with a password, a newly added feature now allows the user to request the password of the Wi-Fi router from someone nearby who is saved in their contact list and has already connected to that router.
    * The “Request Password” button will appear on the Wi-Fi password input screen when you can request a password.

Always On Display

  • Bitmoji Stickers are supported on Always On Display. (Clock style)

Samsung Keyboard

  • A new feature has been added to the keyboard search feature that allows the user to search YouTube.
  • Split Keyboard is supported on Landscape mode.
  • The search function of the “Manage Input Languages” screen in the Keyboard Settings page has been newly updated to make it easy to find keyboard input languages that the user wishes to add or delete.

Camera

  • Improved the quality and stability of the camera.

Messages

  • A feature has been added that allows the user to call a person who is saved as a pre-configured SOS message contact.
  • A feature has been added that allows the user to send SOS location-sharing messages every 30 minutes for 24 hours.

Check for OTA Updates

You can manually check for the update from Settings > Software update >Download updates manually. If there is no update showing on your device, then wait for few days for the update to come to your device as it is being released phase-wise manner or you can manually flash the full firmware using Odin Flash Tool.

Steps to Install Galaxy A70s One UI 2.5 (October 2020 Security Patch)

Installation Guide (Manual Flashing using Odin)

  1. First, download the firmware file from the download section above
  2. Now Enter the recovery mode on your device, then follow the linked guide below to Install Security Patch Update On your Galaxy device
  3. If you want to sideload the OTA then follow the guide below
  4. If you want to Install the Full Firmware File then follow the guide given below (Odin Method)

If the installation is successful, you will see the message Pass in the Log Tab.

Note:Before installing the updates, make sure your device is connected to a good wifi and your device has more than 50 percent battery life remaining
