Hold down on the message for a couple of seconds if you want to react. The entire line will get selected and above the message, you’ll get a list of emojis that are graphically bigger than the message itself.

Choose the reaction that you want to use, press on it, and it’ll be shown for the selected message.

You’ll find that the graphic effect with the react feature will make chatting more interesting. There will be big, beautiful emojis that you want to choose for the reaction. Meanwhile, the reaction itself will appear in the form of small emojis at the bottom left of the selected message.

There are a couple of things that you must know about WhatsApp reactions that go beyond how to use them.

  • For removing a reaction you’ve already sent, simply plug it on with your finger. The reaction will disappear for both you and the other chat recipient.
  • For changing a reaction that you’ve already sent, you should repeat the same process as what you used to enter the reaction.
  • Each message will only get one reaction for a user.
  • In case you’re reacted to an ephemeral message, the reaction appears with the message itself.
  • The reactions cannot be hidden, which means you cannot enable/disable them using the settings.
  • You can turn on the notifications for reactions, both for single charts and group charts.
