Apple officially releases the iOS 17.1.2 Update to the public

As many users had been anticipating, Apple has started releasing the iOS 17.1.2 update to the public. It is a small but useful incremental update that can be installed on eligible iPhones.

Apple will be releasing the stable iOS 17.2 update later this month but it is still three weeks away. It is largely accepted that the iOS 17.1.2 update will be the last update before the official public release of iOS 17.2.

iPhone users who have opted for the iOS 17.2 beta update already will not be receiving iOS 17.1.2 as they already have a higher version. Interestingly, the iOS 17.1.2 update is an important update that addresses many known security issues.

The new iOS update is a small incremental update and it doesn’t have any major changes or new features. However, the update still addresses security issues, making it an important update.

Alongside the iOS update, Apple has also released the iPadOS 17.1.2, AirTag 2.0.61, and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 updates. The new iOS 17.1.2 update for eligible iPhones comes with the build number 21B101. Meanwhile, it weighs around 350 MB but it can be different based on your iPhone model.

How to update your iPhone to the iOS 17.1.2 update?

The new iOS update has been made available for public users who are using iPhone XS and newer iPhones. As mentioned, the earlier users having the beta build update will not be receiving this update. However, if you are already on iOS 17.1.1, you will be receiving this update automatically. To check for the update, you should head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update. Before you install the update, ensure that you charge your iPhone and have a battery backup of at least 60%.
