WhatsApp Status Card-Style Previews may arrive soon

The popular and widely used WhatsApp chat messenger has completed a decade under the Facebook Meta ownership which is a great achievement for the company. However, things weren’t easy enough for the developers and even for some users to accept several changes or improvements in this journey.

Whereas some of the basic useful features are still queued in the request list and never implemented yet. But it looks like that devs have finally decided to bring WhatsApp Status Card-Style Previews for Android.

Yes! That’s true and will add a subtle visual change in the user experience. This new redesign of the Status tab has been announced by WABetaInfo recently in February 2024. Last year, WhatsApp included several changes in features like Channels that users can follow according to their preference to get all notifications without going to any other social media platform.

Now, the card-styled preview in the Status tab of WhatsApp within the Updates tab will be a great addition for both Status and Channel posts. As per the announcement, WhatsApp is soon rolling out a new update to the app via the Google Play Beta Program with version 2.24.4.23 for Android devices right now. So, WhatsApp beta testers can install the specific update.

It’ll do nothing but make the Status tab more prominent and users will be able to see a preview of the status feed. However, it’s only available for the Android users currently which will appear for the WhatsApp beta testers until the stable version releases for the public. So, the stable version of WhatsApp users will have to wait for a couple of weeks or more.

One major concern is that somehow the card-style previews will consume more area on the interface than before which will be interesting to see. However, users will be able to tap previews quite easily or skip them due to the larger size. As usual, the first status will be visible in the preview if multiple status feeds are posted by someone.

We’re not yet sure how much time will it take to arrive on iOS and web versions. But it’ll be better late than never in this case. So, what’s your take on this update?
