Step 1: Install Android SDK

Step 2: Download the Oculus Quest 2 firmware

  • Now, you need to download the desired Oculus Quest 2 firmware –
  • Oculus Quest 2 firmware version 43 – g2_ptc_37314400736000000.zip
  • Oculus Quest 2 firmware version 50 – g2_ptc_50163300179900150.zip
  • Once downloaded, you should transfer it to the platform-tools folder present on your PC
  • Further, rename it to rom.zip, which will make it easier to type in the command window

Step 3: Boot Oculus Quest 2 to ADB Sideload Mode

  • Start by powering off your Oculus Quest 2
  • After that, press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds
  • Your VR headset will boot to the Recovery Mode
  • Use the Volume keys for highlighting ADB Sideload and then press the Power key to confirm it
  • Your VR is sideload-ready
  • Connect it to the PC using a cable

  • Ensure that the firmware has been renamed to rom.zip and present inside the platform-tools folder
  • Now, go to the platform-tools folder and then type CMD in the address bar before hitting Enter to launch the command Prompt
  • Type the following command in the CMD window for sideloading the firmware –
adb sideload rom.zip
  • The installation process will begin and it could take a few minutes
  • Once it is done, you should boot your VR to the newly installed firmware using the Power button
