Before you begin the flashing process, first download Sony USB drivers on your computer, then enable USB debugging on your Xperia smartphone, go to settings >> developers option. If developer’s option isn’t visible on your galaxy device, simply go to about phoneunder settings and scroll down to build number, then tap build number up to 7 times to make developers option visible.

How to Install Official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow On Sony Xperia Z2, Z3, And Z3 Compact

Step By Step Guide

Before doing anything, we recommend you taking back up of your important data

  • Download and Install the Flashtool from the download section above.
  • After installing the flash tool, go to its location. For example, “C:Flashtooldrivers” and install Flashmode and Fastboot drivers listed in the download section.

(Note: On Windows OS 8/8.1/10, you will need to disable driver signature verification.)

  • Download & move the firmware file to the flashtool folder (move the D6503_23.5.A.0.570_R2D.ftf to the location of Flashtool)
  • Now open Flashtool and click on Flash device->Flashmode. The D6503_23.5.A.0.570_R2D.ftfshould now appear on the list.
  • Then Check Wipe APPS_LOG and USERDATA (only if you want to perform a clean install if only want to upgrade then skip the step)
  • Now select Flash and follow the onscreen instructions. (If it asks to use a script, choose “No”)
  • Once the installation process is completed, reboot your phone and you should now be on the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 firmware.

(The process may take upto 10-20minutes depending upon your PC so be patient)

  1. just tell where to find the Wipe APPS_LOG and USERDATA for a begginer its a bit hard to find these since does not exist tutorial for xperia z3 d6603 for updating to marshmallow.
