How to Install CM14 /CM14.1 (CyanogenMod 14) Via TWRP / CWM / Cyanogen Recovery

This guide will teach you How To Safely Flash / Install CM14 / CM14.1 (CyanogenMod 14) Via TWRP / CWM (Clock work mode) / Cyanogen Recovery.This is a very simple and easy method.You can install any CyanogenMod 14 / CyanogenMod 14.1  based ROM or Android 7.0 Nougat Based AOSP ROM using this guide.

Google has released their latest Android Marshmallow for most of the new generation Nexus devices like Nexus 5,6,9.As you guys know there are many third party custom ROMs available for android devices.There are many but most used and most common ROMs are based on CynogenMod Source code.

CyanogenMod Or CM is a custom ROM for android developed by Team CM.These ROMs are based on official android firmware and has a very close to the stock look and feel.The CyanogenMod ROMs Comes with Loads of extra but useful features and customization option.CyanogenMod ROMs are most used Android custom ROMs.


Google has officially released Android 7.0 Nougat for latest nexus devices.If you haven’t updated then check out this post Download Android Nougat 7.0 for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and Nexus 9 (OTA Files). As you guys know all the new generation android devices will get this android update but the older device won’t.For those devices, CyanogenMod 14 is a blessing.Users can Install CM14 custom ROMs on the older devices to update that to latest Android 7.0 Nougat.


Note:- This guide is not for a single device.You can follow this guide to install official/unofficial CyanogenMod 13 (CM14) Nougat ROMs On any android device having TWRP custom recovery on it.

Remember after installing CM 14 you have to separately install the Gapps pack for Nougat.

How To Download & Install CyanogenMod 14 (CM14) Gapps

(If you have CM 14 ROM On your device then above Gapps is the way to Go)

Download Google GAPPS For Android 7.0 Nougat ROMs (All Gapps are Included Like Mini/ Full/ Compressed)

Just follow the step by step Guide to Install CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) Via TWRP Recovery (Works on any android Phone and with both Official and Unofficial CyanogenMod ROMs) 

HOW TO Install CM14 / CM14.1 (CyanogenMod 14) Via TWRP RECOVERY ON ANY ANDROID

(This guide is applicable for both CM14 and CM14.1)

Step By Step Guide

Install CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) using Recovery

Before following these steps make sure you have taken a backup of your important data.Guide > How to Backup Important Data On Android (Non rooted users)

  • First, download and transfer the CM14 ROM and Nougat Gapps file to your device’s internal storage.
  • Now boot your device into TWRP recovery.Guide  How To to Boot Into Recovery Mode On Android (Various Ways)
  • Select “Wipe” from TWRP main menu and do a “Swipe to Factory Reset” on the bottom of the screen.


  • Once done, go back to TWRP main menu, tap on “Install” and select the CM14 (zip file) that you transferred to your device in Step 1.
  • After selecting the .zip file, do “Swipe to Confirm Flash” on the bottom of the screen to begin the custom ROM installation process.

(This may take some time as it is a fresh flashing process).


  • Once your ROM is successfully installed, go to “Wipe cache/dalvik” option, select it and then do “Swipe to wipe” on the bottom of the screen.
  • Now flash the Nougat Gapps file.Guide > Download & Install Gapps For CM14 ROMs
  • Once done, reboot your device from the TWRP main menu



  • Download the CyanogenMod 14 (CM14) ROM and put it in the Internal/external memory of your device (remember the path)
  • Boot your device into CWM recovery mode.Guide  How To to Boot Into Recovery Mode On Android (Various Ways)
  • From the recovery main menu, first select “wipe data/factory reset” option. When it asks for confirmation, select “Yes” to confirm data wipe process.
  • Then return back to main recovery menu. Now you will install the CM14 ROM zip file that you have saved inSD card / Internal memory of your device in step 1.
  • Select option “install zip from sdcard” then choose the ROM Zip file.When it asks for confirmation, select “Yes” to start installation
  • Once the installation is completed, reboot your device.
  • Done!!!
  • Then Install the Nougat Gapps following the same steps.


  1. First, download and transfer the CM14 ROM and Nougat Gapps file to your device’s internal storage.
  2. Now, boot your device into Cyanogen recovery.Guide  How To to Boot Into Recovery Mode On Android (Various Ways)
  3. Select “Wipe data/ factory reset”, then select “Yes” to confirm.
  4. Now select “Apply update” from the main menu and select “Choose from internal storage”.
  5. Select the CM14 (CyanogenMod 14)  ROM file that you transferred to your device in Step 1 above.
    └ It may begin to install without confirmation.
  6. Once CM14 ROM is installed, flash the Nougat Gapps file like you flashed CM14 ROM.
  7. After flashing both CM14 and Nougat Gapps, Reboot your device
